45 businessmen from 25 American organizations are coming to Bangladesh next week, said Mahdi Amin
At the end of next week, 45 businessmen from 25 top organizations in the United States will visit Bangladesh, said the advisor to the Prime Minister. Mahdi Amin. According to him, through this visit, the possibility of strengthening trade, investment and economic cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States will be created.
He gave this information at the briefing organized after the meeting of the US Special Envoy for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gore, with the Prime Minister at the Prime Minister's office in Tejgaon, capital, on Saturday (August 1).
Dr. Mahdi Amin said the United States reiterated its support for Bangladesh's democratic progress, political stability and economic reform programs. At the same time, the US delegation has expressed interest in taking the relationship between the two countries to a new height of economic cooperation.
He said, in the meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the expansion of bilateral trade, increase in foreign investment, cooperation in the energy sector and economic reforms. The US side was also apprised of the government's ongoing initiatives to address the existing crisis in the power and gas sectors.
The advisor to the Prime Minister said that the government will continue to provide policy support for the development of the private sector. Various reform programs are being implemented to create an investment-friendly environment, accelerate industrialization and remove existing barriers to doing business. For this purpose, emphasis is being laid on strengthening the coordination between the concerned government agencies.
He also said that to speed up the import-export activities, there was also a discussion about the introduction of 24-hour services in sea and land ports of the country. He expressed hope that this system will be launched soon after the necessary preparations are completed. If this initiative is implemented, the time of product clearance and transportation will be reduced, business costs will be reduced and Bangladesh's competitiveness in the international market will be increased.
On the same day, the Prime Minister also told about the separate meeting with some of the leading businessmen of the country. Mahdi Amin. Development of investment environment, increase in industrial production, energy supply, expansion of exports and various problems of businessmen were discussed there. Both sides have expressed hope that joint ventures between the government and the private sector will make the economy more dynamic.
At the end of the briefing, he said, the government is continuously working to improve the quality of state services, increase infrastructural capacity and restore momentum to the economy by overcoming long-standing institutional weaknesses. He also expressed hope that the cooperation of international partners and the active participation of the domestic private sector will play an important role in the implementation of these initiatives.
