The government has allowed the import of green chillies to control the abnormal rise in prices. The Agriculture Minister said, "The government has already taken effective steps to control the price of raw chillies. Initiatives have been taken to reduce the air tax on imports and import has also been allowed. The import of raw chillies will start from tomorrow (Monday)."
He also said that supply will increase once imported green chillies start hitting the market, as a result of which the government expects prices to come down significantly to a tolerable level in the next two to five days.
