A reward of crores of rupees for finding Android errors, Google's new announcement

Security is one of the biggest challenges in the technology world right now. And to face this challenge, the world's top technology companies are regularly taking new initiatives. In that sequence, Google has announced a big change in their 'Vulnerability Rewards' program - if you can find serious flaws in the Android operating system, you will get a reward of crores of rupees. The maximum prize is fixed at 1.5 lakh US dollars, which is about 18.45 crores in Bangladeshi taka.

Ensuring the security of the Android operating system used by billions of users worldwide is a big responsibility for Google. Because even a small mistake can put users at risk of personal data theft or cyber attack. Therefore, Google has been taking the help of security researchers for a long time to quickly identify these risks.

The new announcement states that the highest reward will be given for finding especially “zero day” type of flaws – those that are not known in advance and that hackers can take advantage of to launch direct attacks. These types of flaws are considered the most dangerous in the tech world, as they can be used to take control of a device without the user's knowledge.

If anyone can find a security flaw not only in Android, but also in Google's popular web browser Chrome, he will still be eligible for the prize. However, the amount of the award will depend on the seriousness, complexity and potential damages of the defect. Rewards are high for serious errors, and relatively low for moderate or low risk.

In addition, Google also said that the reward amount may be slightly less in case of errors found with the help of artificial intelligence. This is because the individual analysis and skills of human researchers are highly valued here.

According to Google's data, 747 security researchers have been awarded a total of 17.1 million US dollars in 2025 under this bug bounty program. Which is an increase of more than 40 percent compared to the previous year. This is the highest award distribution record in the history of this program which was launched in 2010.

This initiative by Google not only strengthens the security of the technology, but also creates new opportunities for cyber security researchers around the world. With skill and experience, it is now possible to earn crores of rupees just by finding security flaws.
