Big bad news for Argentina, Paredes at risk of 9 match ban

After the exciting end of the World Cup final, the current world champion Argentina is in a new dilemma. FIFA has started an investigation against veteran midfielder Leandro Paredes in connection with the clash and chaos that took place on the field after the match. If the allegations are proven, he can face a maximum international ban of 9 matches.

According to the preliminary investigation report of FIFA Disciplinary Committee, Paredes behaved aggressively towards the opposing players on several occasions during the tense situation at the end of the final. According to the report, his behavior amounted to disorderly conduct on at least three separate occasions. If these allegations are proved, the World Cup-winning midfielder may have to stay out of the national team for a long time.

However, not only Paredes, but several other members of the Argentina team are also under investigation. FIFA is also investigating allegations of misconduct against defender Nahuel Molina, midfielder Thiago Almada and assistant coach Roberto Ayala.

On the other hand, due to the same incident, investigation has also started against the young midfielder Gavi of Spain. He has been accused of inappropriate post-match behaviour, according to football's governing body.

Not only the behavior of the players, FIFA is investigating several other important issues surrounding the entire final. These include allegations of breach of security protocols, discriminatory slogans from the gallery, display of banners with political messages on the field and overall disciplinary situation. Based on these allegations, an official investigation has also been started against the Argentina Football Association.

FIFA said the Disciplinary Committee will make the final decision after reviewing written explanations from the Argentina and Spain football authorities, the match commissioner's report, video footage and other evidence. After the investigation, what kind of disciplinary action will be taken against the concerned persons and organizations will be officially announced.

If the maximum 9-match international ban against Leandro Paredes is enforced, it could have a major impact on Argentina's future international schedule. The long-term absence of the experienced midfielder will undoubtedly be a big blow for the reigning world champions.
