In the hope of rain, two thousand worshipers in Tamil Nadu special prayers and prayers!
Special Namaz (Salatul Istiska) and Monajat have been held in Tiruchirappalli district of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu due to drought conditions due to lack of adequate rainfall. More than two thousand worshipers participated in it and prayed to Allah for rain and mercy.
This special prayer and prayer was organized at Sandhai Maidan in Thennur area of the district on Friday (July 31).
Even though the monsoon season is going on in India, Tamil Nadu has not received enough rain yet. Due to prolonged lack of rain and intense heat, the temperature in the district reached around 37 degrees Celsius. This has reduced the water level of Cauvery river and many ponds, reservoirs and lakes have dried up. As a result, agriculture, domestic animals and daily life of common people are severely affected.
In such a situation, Tiruchirappalli District Jamaatul Ulama Sabha called for organizing Salatul Istiska for rain. Responding to that call, more than two thousand worshipers from different areas of the district came together to offer special prayers and participate in prayers.
Tiruchirappalli District Jamaatul Ulama Sabha President Muhammad Nurul Haque Rashadi led the special prayer. Amul Hasan Hazrat, general secretary of the district branch of the organization, along with local scholars and religious leaders were present with him.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government has taken measures to deal with the changing weather conditions. State Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Joseph Vijay constituted an expert committee on Thursday.
According to government sources, the committee will review the impact of the ongoing El Nino weather conditions and make necessary recommendations to the government to reduce losses from natural calamities like possible drought, heavy rains and floods.
According to experts, the effects of climate change and erratic monsoon rainfall are putting additional pressure on agriculture and water management in various parts of South India. In such a situation, along with the local people, the government is also trying to find a long-term solution.
