Today is Eid-ul-Fitr. After fasting for a long month of Ramadan, Muslims are in the mood of celebration today. A joy becomes a festival only when it becomes a universal joy. As Islam is for everyone irrespective of rich and poor, Eid is also for everyone. Therefore, it is a rule to pay Fitra before Eid so that everyone can participate in the joy of Eid. There are also instructions for donating for various reasons including Ramadan Kaffara. There is also the provision of Zakat. It should be remembered that Eid-ul-Fitr is a festival of giving.
The new government has announced the celebration of Eid in the style of the Sultanate period. Eid processions with decorated elephants, horses and Eid fairs are one of the features after Jamaat. Here, this fair turns into an interfaith festival with the gathering and procession of all castes, religions and castes. After many years, such an arrangement has created great interest and enthusiasm among the people.
This is the beauty of Islam. The month of Ramadan came with the message of self-restraint and self-purification, to test how much we could take that message to heart, how much self-control and compassion we could have in our character, how much we could purify our souls, Allah kept the festival of charity at the end of Ramadan. The problem is that we forget his message in the rush of religious formalities. If everyone understood the meaning of Eid-ul-Fitr, then the joy of Eid would have increased several times.
Like every other time, this Eid also saw the influx of people returning home. A few days before Eid, roads, bus terminals, railway stations were crowded. There was also suffering. This year saw more of the middle class whining than any other year. The lower class people could spend Eid with Zakat, Fitra etc. but the middle class could not ask for it, could not continue. They also had to sit with a calculator to buy an Eid dress for their child. Eid will never come in their lives?
Another thing should not be forgotten - today we are celebrating Eid at a time when around 70 million Muslims are living as refugees around the world. Millions of Muslims have been expelled from Myanmar to our country. On the other hand, the Palestinian Muslims are being massacred. In the last 19 months, 62,000 Muslims in Palestine have been killed and millions injured. Israelis have recorded 500 people killed in one day this year. Israel did not allow relief aid to reach even on the occasion of Eid. Last year, two million people ate grass and leaves in refugee camps. Didn't get that this year. There is no Eid in their life, it is not known when Eid will come.
Like the Palestinians in Bangladesh today, religious dissidents are being mobbed by an extremist class and left without homes. No action was taken by the government to rehabilitate the victims and even celebrate Eid. They are also having a happy Eid in the independent country.
One day of the year, let the whole country rejoice, let the joy spread from building to hut, city to village, women, men, children and old people. May Eid be meaningful, joyful, universal and meaningful. Eid Mubarak everyone.
