North Korea has accused the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) of rapidly expanding its military fuel supply system in preparation for future conflict. An opinion piece published by North Korea's state news agency KCNA sharply criticized the NATO plan.
According to reports, NATO plans to build new energy pipelines and energy storage facilities to strengthen the alliance's new eastern and northern member states with Western Europe. North Korea claims that the purpose of this project is not only to ensure energy supply; Rather, it is to strengthen long-term war preparedness for possible military conflict.
KCNA also claimed that the initiative is part of NATO's strategic war stockpile and rapid military deployment capabilities. According to them, in recent years, NATO is considering not only Europe, but also the Asia-Pacific region as an important part of its security strategy.
North Korea accuses NATO of regularly deploying strategic military assets to the Asia-Pacific region and increasing joint military operations with countries hostile to North Korea. In addition, the participation of NATO member countries in multinational military exercises such as Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) is also mentioned as evidence of seeing the Asia-Pacific as a potential battlefield.
Pyongyang has also warned that increasing NATO's military capabilities and expanding its logistics infrastructure is aimed at rapid military operations worldwide, which could further destabilize the international security situation.
But NATO has long maintained that its military alliance's stance is purely defensive. The alliance claims that their main objective is to ensure the security of member countries, prevent potential threats and maintain regional stability; Not taking aggressive military action.
