ODI captain Liton Das replaced Mirage

After the recent performance in white ball cricket and the series loss against Zimbabwe, the leadership of the Bangladesh ODI team has been changed. Liton Das has been appointed as the new captain of the ODI team replacing Mehdi Hasan Miraj. As a result, now Liton will lead Bangladesh in both formats of ODI and T20 - white ball.

This decision was taken at the third board meeting of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) held in Mirpur on Wednesday (July 29).

Before this, Liton Das is serving as the captain of Bangladesh T20 team. As a result of the new decision, the leadership of the ODI team is now on his shoulders. In other words, Liton will single-handedly handle the responsibility of leading Bangladesh in white ball cricket.

Tawhid Hriday has been appointed as the vice-captain of the ODI team. On the other hand, Nazmul Hossain Shanto remains as the captain of the Test team.

Board President Tamim Iqbal told reporters after the BCB Board of Directors meeting, "I believe we need to have two captains, the board also believes so."

There have been rumors of a change in captaincy since Bangladesh's disappointing performance in ODI cricket recently and the series loss against Zimbabwe. In the end, that rumor came true. BCB chose Liton to lead ODIs instead of Mirage.

In his new role, Liton now faces the challenge of making Bangladesh a stronger team in two white ball formats. How much success Bangladesh gets in ODI and T20 under his leadership is a matter to be seen now.
