Dengue outbreak continues in the country. Two more people have died due to dengue in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 423 new patients were admitted to different hospitals in the country. With this, the number of dengue deaths this year has increased to 56.
This information was informed in the regular dengue news bulletin published by the Department of Health on Sunday (August 2).
According to reports, one of the two people who died of dengue in the last 24 hours is from Khulna division and the other from Barisal division.
At the same time, out of 423 new infected people, maximum 154 people have been identified in Dhaka Division. Besides, 36 people in Mymensingh division, 49 people in Chittagong, 81 people in Khulna, 29 people in Rajshahi, 16 people in Rangpur, 54 people in Barisal and 4 patients have been admitted to hospital in Sylhet division.
According to the information of the Department of Health, the number of dengue patients is highest in Dhaka Division this year, where 6 thousand 74 people have been affected. Besides, 689 people have been infected in Mymensingh division, 2 thousand 789 people in Chittagong, 2,64 people in Khulna, 612 people in Rajshahi, 348 people in Rangpur, 3 thousand 425 people in Barisal and 103 people in Sylhet division.
Meanwhile, 14,930 dengue patients have been discharged from the hospital after treatment so far this year. At present 1 thousand 118 patients are admitted with dengue in different hospitals of the country.
According to the information of the Department of Health, 1 lakh 2 thousand 861 people were infected with dengue in the country last year and 413 people died. The previous year, i.e. in 2024, the number of infected people was 1 lakh 1 thousand 214, and 575 people died.
Health experts have called for removing stagnant clean water from homes and surroundings, destroying mosquito breeding grounds and seeking medical advice quickly in case of fever to prevent the spread of dengue.
