Ad-Deen Medical College Hospital, located in Bara Moghbazar of the capital, got back the license that was revoked in connection with the death of six newborns. The government withdrew the decision to cancel the license of the hospital as the report of the inquiry committee was considered satisfactory. However, the hospital has been allowed to resume operations with conditions.
Monday (July 27) Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. This information was given in a notification signed by Kamruzzaman Chowdhury.
The notification said that if the license of the hospital was revoked in connection with the death of six newborns, the authority would appeal against the decision. Later an inquiry committee was constituted in view of the appeal. On July 15, the investigation committee was directed to conduct a site visit to the hospital and submit a report within three working days.
According to the instructions, the inquiry committee visited the hospital and submitted the report. The earlier order canceling the license of the hospital was withdrawn as the report given by the committee after inspection and investigation was considered satisfactory.
However, besides returning the license, the government has imposed some conditions on the hospital authorities. Subject to the conditions, all provisions of The Medical Practice and Private Clinics and Laboratories (Regulation) Ordinance, 1982 shall be duly complied with.
Apart from this, the process of appointing the required number of duty doctors and nurses as per the license conditions should be completed quickly. The notification also mentions that the government or the authorized authority can take legal action if the hospital authority violates any condition of the license in future.
