Official complaint against 41 people including Sheikh Hasina in Shapla Chatwar crime against humanity case

On May 5, 2013, the prosecution filed a formal charge (formal charge) with the International Criminal Tribunal against ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and 41 people in the case of crimes against humanity that took place around the Hefazet Islam rally at Shapla Chattar in Motijheel of the capital. In the complaint, various persons related to that incident and the then responsible officials have been accused of crimes against humanity.

Prosecutor Zahirul Amin submitted the official complaint to the Registrar of the International Criminal Tribunal at around 11:15 on Monday (July 27). Prosecutor Margina Raihan was with him at that time.

It is known that the chairman of the International Criminal Tribunal-1, Justice Md. A three-member judicial panel headed by Golam Mortuza Majumder is scheduled to hear the matter.

According to the prosecution sources, 9 accused are currently under arrest in this case. They are - former minister Dr. Dipu Moni, former Minister of State for Home Affairs Shamsul Haque Tuku, Major General (retd) Ziaul Ahsan, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque, former Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Molya Nazrul Islam, President of the Advisory Council of the 1971 Khatak-Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir, former DIG Abdul Jalil Mandal and journalist Farzana. Rupa and Mozammel Babu.

According to the information of the investigation agency, the prosecution said that on May 5, 2013, a total of 58 people were killed in four places of the country including Dhaka. Among them, 32 people in Dhaka, 20 people in Narayanganj, 5 people in Chittagong and 1 person in Comilla have been identified.

The concerned parties are awaiting the Tribunal's decision regarding the receipt of formal complaint and further judicial proceedings.
