The dengue outbreak in the country shows no signs of abating. One more person died due to dengue in the last 24 hours. At the same time, 242 new people were admitted to the hospital. This year, the number of dengue cases has exceeded 10,000, and the number of deaths has increased to 33.
This information has been informed in the dengue circular published by the Department of Health on Saturday (July 18).
According to the notification, among the 242 dengue patients who were admitted to various hospitals in the country in the last 24 hours, the largest number of patients were admitted in Dhaka North City Corporation area, where the number of new patients was 77. Besides, 40 people in Khulna Division, 38 in Chittagong Division, 35 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 21 in Dhaka Division (outside City Corporation), 21 in Mymensingh Division and 10 in Barisal Division.
According to the information of the Department of Health, a total of 10 thousand 12 people have been infected with dengue in the country so far this year. About 61 percent of the affected are male and 39 percent are female.
Meanwhile, a total of 33 people died of dengue this year. Among them, 15 people died in July alone, which is the highest monthly death this year. Besides, 2 people died in January, 2 people in February, 1 person in May and 13 people died in June.
Health experts fear that the spread of dengue may increase during the rainy season. Therefore, in case of fever, body ache, pain behind the eyes or other symptoms of dengue, they urged everyone to be aware to prevent the spread of Aedes mosquito by removing the clean water accumulated in the houses and surroundings, and to consult a doctor immediately.
