Naseeruddin Patwari, the party's central chief coordinator, has reacted strongly to the attack on the National Citizen Party's (NCP) convoy in Sylhet, blaming BNP. Claiming that he narrowly escaped the attack, he said that he might not have survived if he had been hit on the head. At the same time, he also gave a strong political message to Tariq Rahman, acting chairman of BNP.
Nasiruddin Patwari said these things while talking to reporters after the attack in Haripur area of Jaintapur on his way back from Sylhet on Friday (July 31) night.
Describing the attack, he said that a large brick broke the window glass of the moving car and hit him in the hand. An associate who was with him was also injured. He said that the brick was recovered from the spot and kept in the car.
Nasiruddin Patwari said, "If the brick had hit my head instead of my hand, I might not have lived this long."
Blaming BNP leader Ishrak Hossain for the attack, he alleged that the attack happened in continuation of recent political programs and provocative speeches. He claimed that an ambush was carried out on the convoy just a few minutes after the departure of the program. He also alleged that the attack could not be prevented despite the police protocol.
Addressing BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman, Nasiruddin Patwari said, 'You have made a big mistake and you will have to pay the political price for it.'
This NCP leader also said, 'My blood has crossed the red line today. It will be answered politically on the streets.
However, in response to the question whether he will file a case in the attack or not, he clearly said that he will not take any legal action personally in this incident. In his words, as long as he lives, he will not take recourse to the court in this matter.
Nasiruddin Patwari also claimed that at least five NCP vehicles were vandalized in Sylhet region. He put the political responsibility of the incident on BNP and announced its political confrontation.
It should be noted that these statements of Nasiruddin Patwari regarding the attack are his own claims and complaints. There was no immediate response from the accused person or BNP in this regard.
