Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dr. Shafiqur Rahman claimed that a country can bring most of the political parties under the influence of Jamaat-e-Islami. According to him, this is the reason why various complaints and pressure are being made about the party. At the same time, he said, their only 'crime' was not accepting hegemony.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at the exchange meeting organized with the families of the martyrs of the July mass uprising and the injured July fighters at the council hall of the Institute of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) building in the capital, Kakrail, on Thursday morning. The event was organized by the North and South units of the Dhaka Metropolitan Jamaat.
Dr. speech. Shafiqur Rahman brought up the issue of banning the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami in the decision of the then Awami League government during the 24th July uprising and said that there was a political reason behind the action taken against them.
Their only fault, he claimed, was that they did not accept hegemony. In the same context, he also said that he has heard that Jamaat has been blamed for the recent incidents of student movement in India. According to him, all the political parties could be brought under control but Jamaat could not be brought under the allegation.
Quoting the statement of a former state minister, Jamaat Amir said that one country has 'pocketed' almost all the political parties in Bangladesh, but not one party. He also commented that the name of that group is Jamaat-e-Islami.
Referring to the July movement, Shafiqur Rahman said that since the beginning of the movement, Jamaat-e-Islami had supported the students. But the movement never claimed its credit after it was successful.
According to him, they did not claim how many were martyred or that the leadership of the movement was in their hands. Instead, he gave priority to standing by the martyr's family and serving the injured.
He also said that a large part of those who gave their lives in the July movement were people from marginalized communities. Many were not students and were not directly linked to government jobs or quota demands. He claimed that they participated in the movement with the hope of building a fascism-free Bangladesh.
Criticizing the current state system, Jamaat Amir complained that factionalization is going on in various government and private institutions including universities, district councils, banks, insurance companies, and corporations.
He claimed that competent and patriotic people are being removed and dishonest and corrupt people are being placed in important positions. According to him, the goal of the July Movement was not only a change in power, but a change in the state system. But he commented that currently that expectation is not being fulfilled.
Dr. to the government. Shafiqur Rahman said that mistakes can be made by people, parties or governments. But he complained that the government could not keep the promise made with the nation.
He called on the government and said, "Let's go on the straight path without slander. The nation is in dire straits. The people of the country want to build the country by your side."
Jamaat-e-Islami will stand firm in demanding justice for the killings of those killed in the July uprising and ensuring the fair rights of the injured, the party's emir said.
He said, whether the trial is today or after many years, one day or the other it will take place on the soil of this country.
At the end of the speech, he complained that they are being intimidated in various ways. However, mentioning that they do not fear anyone except Allah, he said, they will speak against injustice and will not remain silent on the issue of people's rights under any pressure.
But Dr. There was no immediate response from the government or the concerned parties regarding the various complaints raised in Shafiqur Rahman's speech.
