The NCP filed a written complaint against the BNP workers for attacking the convoy of central leaders during the Jatiya Nagrik Party (NCP) march program in Habiganj. A five-member delegation led by party convener Nahid Islam submitted the complaint at the Kamichara police outpost of Bahubal upazila on Wednesday (July 29) night. Bahubal Thana Police confirmed the receipt of the complaint.
The delegation led by Nahid Islam reached the Kamichara police outpost at around 8 pm on Wednesday and filed a written complaint. NCP chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari, southern region chief organizer Hasnat Abdullah, Dr. Mahmuda Mitu and Sarwar Alam.
Earlier on Wednesday around 3 pm, the leaders of NCP left for Habiganj with a convoy from Moulvibazar circuit house within the promulgation of section 144. When they reached the 'Cha-Kanya' sculpture area on the Shaistaganj-Srimangal road around 4:30 pm, the police barricaded their way.
At that time, there was a long argument and push and shove between the police and the NCP activists. Among the leaders present were Hasnat Abdullah, Nasiruddin Patwari and Sarwar Alam. At one stage, the activists crossed the barricade and moved forward with the convoy.
However, when they reached the Rashidpur Gasfield area of Bahubal Upazila, the NCP convoy was again blocked by the police. Then Nahid Islam and party leaders got down from the car and took a position on the road and sat there for some time.
Later a discussion was held between police and NCP leaders. After discussion, permission was given to submit a written complaint at the Kamaichara police outpost, and the delegation went there and filed a formal complaint.
Earlier on Tuesday, incidents of clashes, attacks and vehicle vandalism took place in Habiganj on the march and rally of NCP. Due to the incident, the group filed a written complaint demanding legal action against those involved in the attack.
Regarding the complaint, the police said that the written application has been accepted. The issues mentioned in the complaint will be investigated and further legal action will be taken.
