A first class student named Amir Hamza (6) tragically died after being crushed by the wheels of a Laguna car carrying food for school feeding program in Ramnagar village of Gangni upazila of Meherpur. The accident happened on Sunday (August 2) afternoon. He was taken to different hospitals with serious injuries, but ultimately he could not be saved.
The deceased Amir Hamza is the son of Abdul Hakim of Bazarpara area of Ramnagar village. He was a first class student of Ramnagar Government Primary School.
According to local sources, a Laguna vehicle carrying food items for the government school feeding program was stationed in the village. At that time the child Amir Hamza was playing on top of the car. Suddenly, the child fell down when the driver carelessly started the car. Later he was crushed by the wheels of the car and seriously injured.
After the accident, the locals quickly rescued him and took him to a private clinic in Bamandi. When the condition worsened there, he was sent to Kushtia Medical College Hospital. Later he died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
This incident has cast a shadow of mourning on the area. The atmosphere became heavy with the cries of relatives.
Gangni Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhaddid Morshed Chowdhury said that the police reached the spot after receiving the information. An investigation is underway to find out the actual cause of the incident and necessary legal action will be taken after the investigation.
