Gaibandha sadar upazila Kholahati union Kumarpara area raided along with one and a half kg of cannabis. An alleged drug dealer named Farid Hossain (45) has been arrested by the Narcotics Control Directorate. The estimated market value of recovered ganja is about Tk 45,000, the agency said.
On Sunday (August 2) around 4 pm, the operation was conducted on the Dariapur-Gaibandha road based on secret information.
Narcotics Control Directorate, District Office Gaibandhar Sub-Inspector Md. An unnumbered CNG was stopped and searched during the operation led by Enamul Haque. At that time, 1.5 kg dry ganja wrapped in white polythene and scotch tape was recovered from a navy-blue color travel bag kept on the lap of Farid Hossain who was a passenger.
The arrested Farid Hossain is the son of deceased Hachen Ali of Bura Majumdar (Ganabari) area of Betagi police station of Barguna district.
A case under section 19(a) of Schedule 36(1) of the Narcotic Drugs Control Act, 2018 has been filed at Gaibandha Sadar Police Station. The Narcotics Control Directorate said that the process of handing over the accused to the court is ongoing.
