Posting a picture of a pistol on Facebook caused trouble: 1 person arrested with weapons in Naria

Police have arrested a person named Salim Bepari (45) with a pistol and indigenous weapons in Shariatpur's Naria upazila. He was arrested from his home in Thirpara village of Dingamanik union of Naria upazila around 2 am on Saturday (August 1).

The arrested Salim Bepari is the son of deceased Rostam Ali Bepari of that village.

According to police and local sources, Salim had posted a picture of a pistol on his own Facebook ID. A local person saw the matter and informed the police. On receiving the information, the police quickly went to the spot and searched Selim's residence. A pistol, two domestic weapons, a passport, foreign currency and two mobile phones were recovered from his house. He was then arrested and taken to the police station. Police is preparing a case in this incident.

When asked about this, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Naria police station said. Bahar Mia said, "On the basis of tip-off, a man named Salim was arrested with weapons in his house. A case is being prepared against him. After that, he will be handed over to the court. It is being investigated whether anyone else is involved."
