A man was arrested with 127 pieces of yaba when he came to meet his wife in Kashimpur Women's Central Jail in Gazipur. When his behavior appeared suspicious during a routine search of visitors, prison guards conducted a body search and recovered drugs. He was later handed over to the police.
The incident took place in Kashimpur Women's Central Jail on Sunday (August 2) morning.
The detained person is Rezaul Karim (28). He is the son of deceased Nazrul Islam Naju of Beltali village of Sripur upazila of Gazipur district.
According to prison and police sources, Rezaul Karim came to the RP (reception) check post of Kashimpur Women's Central Jail to meet his wife.
His behavior seemed suspicious to the prison guards on duty during the routine body searches of visitors. After a thorough search, 127 pieces of Yaba tablets hidden in his body were recovered.
After the incident, Rezaul Karim was arrested and handed over to the police of Konabari Metro Police Station of Gazipur Metropolitan for taking legal action.
Konabari Metro Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Iftekhar Hossain said that the police went to the spot after receiving information from the prison authorities. Later, the jail guards handed over the arrested person along with Yaba to the police.
He also said that the process of taking necessary legal measures under the Narcotics Control Act is underway.
