Before this, on July 30, in a notification signed by the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Saiful Islam. Moniruzzaman was attached to the Directorate of Health for further posting.
The notification directed him to join the new workplace by August 3. It is also mentioned that if they do not join within the stipulated time, they will be immediately dismissed from their current job.
Last July 24 by the order of the Ministry of Health Dr. Moniruzzaman joined Barisal as Civil Surgeon. But soon after joining, a section of students started protesting around him.
The agitators accused him of corruption and political affiliation and demanded his removal. At one point, they locked the civil surgeon's office and staged a protest.
As a result, he could not conduct regular official activities even for a day after joining.
Sabbir Hossain Sohag, one of the coordinators of the movement, said that this decision has come as a result of the movement to free the Barisal health sector from corruption and fascism.
he said "We thank the Prime Minister, Health Minister and those concerned in the Ministry of Health. This victory is not only for us, but for the entire people of Barisal."
He also claimed that they succeeded in this demand through six days of continuous agitation.
