Two riders on the motorcycle died in a head-on collision between a pickup van and a motorcycle in Mirsrai upazila of Chittagong. The deceased were the khatib and muezzin of a local mosque. After the accident, they were rescued and taken to the hospital where the doctor declared them dead.
The accident happened on Sunday (August 2) around 2 pm on the road next to Zorarganj Highway Police Station.
The deceased are sons of Abdus Salam of Charsrat area of Moghadiya Union of Mirsrai Upazila. Zainal Abedin (35). He was Khatib of Dargahpara Kala Pirshah Jame Masjid.
Another was killed Zahir Uddin (52) Son of late Khorshed Alam of the same area. He served as the muezzin of that mosque.
According to locals, a pickup van collided with a motorcycle near Zorarganj Highway Police Station around noon. Two riders on the motorcycle were seriously injured.
Later, the locals quickly rescued them and took them to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared them both dead.
Zorarganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abdul Halim said that the police went to the hospital after receiving information about the accident. Necessary legal process is ongoing, including the postmortem of the body.
Police are working to investigate the cause of the accident and necessary legal action will be taken in this regard.
